In Latin. A rare and significant book in the history of botany, this copy is in nice, collectible shape. The signature of another major botanist makes it a spectacular association copy. Carl Trinius (1778-1844) was a pioneer in the study of grasses, serving in later life as a tutor to the young Czar Alexander II. Trinius bequeathed his extensive and important collection of specimens to the Moscow Museum. Hugo von Mohl (April 8, 1805, Stuttgart - April 1, 1872, Tübingen), German botanist, was also a pioneer--he was the man credited w/ coining the term "protoplasm," among other achievements.
