A fascinating and rare literary correlative to the Nazi "Drang nach Osten." This second edition is in itself a reflection of the times in several ways: the publisher has changed from Verlag Morgenroth (possibly one of the Weimar era Jewish publishers whose operations were, at least nominally, taken over by more "Teutonic" sounding publishers; many of the images in this second edition look almost like the work of Leni Riefenstahl. The images themselves are quite beautiful, if not a bit too "voelkisch." A fascinating period piece, quite scarce, especially with the original dustjacket (see illustration).
