Very good copy of a limited and extremly rare edition of one of Germany's best classical authors. This copy is one of very few titles which Erich Reiss was able to save from his studio in Berlin. He had been imprisoned in Concentration Camp Berlin/Oranienburg, was released after a writer of his, Caroline Michaelis interceded. He had a few hours to leave the country with what little he could salvage. This was one of the few titles he could save. Purchased with the entire library of Lotte Jacobi.
