The 150th Anniversary Heywood-Wakefield: The Early American Company.

Gardner, Massachusetts: Heywood-Wakefield, 1976. Original Wraps. Folio (11" x 14"), pp. 140, illustrated in b/w & color photos, includes history of the company. As New. Item #5214

In 1826, Walter Heywood, one of the six sons of Benjamin Heywood (1773-1849), began making wooden chairs in a barn adjacent to his father's farmhouse. Walter was eventually joined by four of his five brothers in the chair-making venture. Countless references have been made to the Five Heywood Brothers through many generations, as the founders of the furniture manufacturing industry in the United States. This lovely catalog was published to celebrate the national bicentennial and the company's 150th anniversary in 1976. Great for the collector or fan of Heywood-Wakefield's beautiful "early American-" style furniture.
