From Giullo Carlo Argan's descriptive essay, it is clear that Gropius and his Cambridge-based firm was building what he had been preaching about in his Bauhaus days: A University Town in Baghdad. An in a sense this is what the New Urbanists and green-minded urban planners of today have envisioned as the urban ideal. A very scarce piece of architectural modernism and urban planning.
