Wolf was an interesting figure of the Weimar period. Not only was he a prominent physician, he was also a celebrated avant garde dramatist, a figure whom Jacobi had photographed in the twenties. As a vegetarian and a follower of holistic medicines, Jacobi obviously used this book so much throughout her life that she had to have it rebacked.
