Two Trade Cards from a Massachusetts Business.
East Walpole, MA: n.d. c. 1890-1930. Original edition. Ephemera. Two trade cards related to Massachusetts industry. The first promotes Neponset rope roofing fabric, and the second promotes sidewall coverings. Both products are produced by F. W. Bird & Son in East Walpole, MA. The first card measures 3" x 6" and has text about the Neponset rope roofing paper on the reverse; this is the older of the two cards. The second card measures 3.25" x 6.25" and has a blank reverse; it was probably published around 1930. Very Good. Item #23940
F. W. Bird & Son originated from a business founded in 1795 by George Bird, and expanded across generations by his family, becoming F. W. Bird & Son in 1882. The company started as a paper mill, but expanded into building supplies after the company's mill was destroyed by a fire. Bird Neponset Products were historical building, roofing and flooring goods created by this company. An attractive pair of trade card, suitable for display.
