This book is intended to stimulate an active interest in one of the most novel, beautiful, economical and easily attained effects ever obtained on any wood used decoratively indoors. Cypress finished in this manner was considered ideal for Mission style trim, very popular in this time period. Sugi is the process of burning or charring wood to give it an aged, beautiful effect that made the wood grain more distinctive and the wood a deeper color. This booklet explains the technique and illustrates the process and finished product. Very scarce; we have never had any booklet on sugi before.
