Peter Lorre was a close personal friend of Jacobi's during their days in Berlin in the 20s and 30s. She had photographed him on countless on-site shoots at theatre performances. However, she wanted to capture the private citizen and asked him for permission to do so, just as he was leaving for Hollywood. He grudgingly agreed, allowing her only one shot. The result, in suit and tie shot at close quarters, is the most striking and perhaps famous pose of him. An uncommon Jacobi image.
