Pre-Revolutionary Dutch Houses and Families in Northern New Jersey and Southern New York.

New York: Dover Publications, Inc, 1968. Reprint. Original Wraps. Octavo, pp. 612, indexed, bibliography, this edition is an unabridged republication of the work originally published in 1936 by William Morrow & Co., introduction by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Very Good. Item #21759

The opening section discusses land titles, modern restoration, types of houses, building materials, locations of original settlements, and other general material. Then 210 houses are described, all but a handful illustrated in full page photographs. The texts that describe each house and accompany the plates are a treasury of information: family histories, dates of construction, special architecture, former location, and similar material. A major volume of architectural history, and it has become increasingly important as the years have passed.
