This is an exceptional toolbox. Its size, finish, condition, and appearance lend to its distinctive character. From the outside, it could be mistaken for a piece of utilitarian furniture. The box was purchased by its current owner more than 40 years ago in the Harrisburg/Lancaster area. It is in as-found condition except for dry cloth cleaning. The original 2-color finish, though worn through use, still reads quite well. The panels are a terra cotta red while the rest of the box has a brownish paint or stain The finish is well worn on the top. The wood of this chest is truly lovely, and if this chest were restored it would be a beautiful piece. Available for pickup in the Washington DC/Baltimore area.
