Somerset: An Architectural History.

Baltimore: Maryland Historical Trust, 1990. First edition. Pictorial Wraps. Very Good. Item #21610

This is a superb, and certainly definitive study of historic architecture in the incredibly rich ground of Somerset County Maryland. The book includes narrative discussion of the architectural history of the county arranged chronologically, enhanced with black and white photographs, floor plans and elevations. There is a fantastic, comprehensive inventory of historic sites that is worth the price of the book alone. While you may think the coverage area is too limited, Somerset County has preserved an astonishing set of important colonial, federal and romantic buildings. This will prove to be an indispensable source for architectural historians of this area.
