Forster's work follows the French tradition, and is known by a number of names: Norman Farmhouse, French Provincial, Domestic Gothic, and others, vague or descriptive. The term he preferred, if a label was necessary, was French Provincial. He felt that picture books were of some use, but the most direct way to learn about French Provincial architecture was to visit the French provinces and study it in its own natural surroundings. His work became the basis for the French Provincial architecture in the US by other architects after WWII, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s. This book is the iconographic volume of Forster's designs, illustrated with photographs and floor plans of his work. This is the first time we've been able to offer this title.
