Item #21044 Maurice Fatio Architect. Architects, Alexandra Fatio.

Maurice Fatio Architect.

Palm Beach, FL: Alexandra Fatio, 1992. Limited Edition, 1500 copies. Perfect Bound. Quarto, pp. 277, illustrated with b/w photographs. Very Good. Item #21044

The too-brief career of Maurice Fatio is traced from his letters to his parents in 1920 to his final commissions in the 1940s. He died in 1943. A detailed introduction by Eric Egan describes his career from his move from Geneva Switzerland to New York City in 1920 and his move to Palm Beach a few years later. He specialized in residential design in many different styles, including Spanish, Spanish-Colonial, Romanesque, Florentine, Art Deco, and Modern. There is, presently, a renewed appreciation for the skillful eclecticism that was the trademark of Fatio's Palm Beach work. No matter the style, Fatio's Palm Beach designs are recognizable by their highly controlled courtyard plans, well-proportioned facades, and elegant details. As the many photographs in this book illustrate, he was one of Palm Beach's most important architects. Very rare; this is the first copy we have been able to offer.
