This recording was compiled from informal conversations tape recorded over the period of a year in the offices and homes of seven US architects. Contributors are: Ernest Kump, an architect on the Pacific Coast; Gordon Bunshaft, partner and chief designer with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill; Eero Saarinen, internationally famed architect who designed the GM Technical Center; Philip Johnson, architectural historian and architectural chairman of the NY Museum of Modern Art; Mies Van Der Rohe, architect with European and American projects; Walter Gropius, founder of Bauhaus in Germany and chairman of the Harvard School of Design; and Richard Neutra, West Coast architect.
