The instruction given in this book is intended to be an intermediate step between painting in sepia and painting in watercolor. The studies are executed in sepia and add a single grey tint. The author used architectural and outdoor scenes for his paintings, and tended to use the grey tint mainly to depict the sky and details in the background. An attractive and helpful guide for those learning to paint.
