Item #20365 A Course of Sepia Painting. Art, R. P. Leitch.

A Course of Sepia Painting.

London: Cassell Petter & Galpin, nd c. 1875. Original edition. Marbled Boards. Oblong small quarto, pp. 33, illustrated with 24 sepia plates. Very Good; ex-library markings, front endpaper partially detached. Item #20365

The study of painting as an art is based on three considerations: form, light and shade, and color. This volume teaches students how to use the brush and manage a single color and an additional tint, thus preparing the student to enter a course in watercolor painting. This volume is not dated, but 15 editions were published between 1875 and 1925, and this one appears to be older than any other edition for sale at this time.
