A reprint by the Philadelphia Athenaeum of an iconic paint treatise by Dornsife in the 1880s. Color documentation is one of the most difficult problems facing the owner of a period house who wants to paint it authentically. The Athenaeum found color cards issued by manufacturers of ready-mixed paint, and used their information to create a 50-color paint chip chart tipped in.
