Long neglected in nineteenth history, Rufus Porter, the "Michaelangelo" of America, experienced a rebirth under the watchful eye of Jean Lipman. From his many inventions, his creation of "Scientific American", or his many folk art murals (here catalogued and illustrated), his life shows the range of creativity of a modest genius. Lipman's book, even the reprint edition, is exceedingly hard to find today, here in a very nice example of the dust-jacketed hardcover edition.
