A history of the building and ornamental stone industry in Minnesota is summarized, the rocks and their constituent minerals are described, and an outline of the geologic history is given. A brief account of the properties essential to the usefulness of stones is followed by a general discussion of the crystalline rocks of Minnesota. Detailed descriptions of the quarries, of their products, mode of operation, equipment, ownership, and means of transportation, form the main body of the report. Undeveloped outcrops as well as quarries are described. Very rare; this is the first time we are able to offer this report.
