[American History]. Sloane, Eric.

Our Vanishing Landscape.

Funk & Wagnalls New York 1955 Octavo, pp. 107, illustrations by the author: wonderful black & white sketches of old mills, smokehouses, churches, canal boats, covered bridges, road signs, sleds, snowplows, wagons, water wheels, icehouses and many more. The author depicts the charms that once graced the landscape of the US during the 1800's and later. The author's underlying theme with this book is his belief that farms and farmers were not only the pioneers of this country but created the foundation of the American countryside.
As with his other books, a great read, very informative and insightful.
